I can speak Bahasa Indonesia, but not Javanese. Although I was born in the US, I lived several towns/cities on Sumatra 13 years growing up and attended Indonesian schools through grade 5. So my Indonesian vocabulary is just up up to grade 5 level. It's hard to keep it fluent here in the US without practice. But I think in my limited Indonesian, I don't translate from English.
