if you're playing with other people you can actually hit "+" on the course selection screen and select the courses that *don't have arrows beside them* to play normal, 3-lap courses
but everyone in the lobby needs to know to do this because of course it chooses randomly what everyone plays. kind of a garbage system tbh but at least it's doable. it's how they're doing mario kart world tournaments so far
