Just having an avenue for new people would be an improvement. Some would have to be better than those they replace. Many young Democrats are more progressive. On the other hand, many young Democrats seem oblivious to the fact that the policies of Democrats like Biden are the same Republican policies which many liberal Democrats were fighting against twenty years ago under Bush/Cheney. Nor do they understand how far Biden has set back civil liberties fights going back to the Vietnam era.
