What the literal fuck?
This fellow doesn't seem worth a spit in his direction. He opens by disclaiming agreement with "the lyrical content, aesthetics, or anything else" and then spends 1,500 words historicizing and elevating it.
To document a thing with enthusiasm is to advocate for it. He holds an MTS and professes Orthodoxy, a tradition built on the theology of divine beauty, and revels in this shit. He has no excuse. His soul is filth and that's why he has this fucking site.
The genre is 100% indefensible. The defense is incoherent. It's condemned by the simplest principles. Classic case of education ruining thinking, this logic requires no advanced degree --but it does need willingness to apply it.
Goregrind exists to assert a single theological proposition: that the human body is indistinguishable from rotting animal flesh. The author confirms this was Carcass's explicit intent. Every Christian tradition confesses the body is made in the **Imago Dei** and destined for bodily resurrection. You CANNOT baptize an aesthetic whose entire formal grammar denies that. It's the equivalent of baptizing the practice of Nero's human candles. Assinine, evil. Different lyrics over the same framework is not redemption. One of my professors liked to say it "is heresy with a chorus."
Saint Paul was unambiguous: **"Whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable — think about these things"**. What the fuck is difficult to understand about that? By the author's own admission, this genre is "off-putting in almost every way, both sonically, lyrically and often visually." That is a description of something failing EVERY SINGLE Pauline criterion simultaneously. This is not a hard case. It's a compromised asshole posing as a Christian writing useless shit on the internet.
