All I want for Christmas, is for Eugen Rochko (npub1vl7…f6g0) to make private messages better on Mastodon.
I have lost count of how many times I have written a private message to someone, and then forgotten to click to explicitly make it private.
That button is a developer friendly solution — not a user friendly solution.
On most other social media sites, you begin writing a private message by clicking a dedicated button. That is the safe way, which ensures you do not spill private information into the public.
