Corral users into your digital pasture and they all provide endless content for one another to engage with, and all you have to do is maintain the servers and sell ad space. Then you develop an algorithm that pays attention to what type of content each user engages with the most and fill their feed with a never ending stream of whatever they'll click on to keep them scrolling all day.
Use the same algorithm that catalogues their interests to make advertising targeted. They're bound to click though an ad and complete a sale eventually.
This became a multi-billion dollar industry. Meta Platforms now has a market cap of $1.71 trillion, and the Internet lost it's soul.
Billions of people are still stuck in the corporate social media farm. It's up to us to build nostr and make a free community for more people to escape to where they can rediscover the spirit of the free Internet.
