Alit occurred to me tonight that all the great immigrant stories and tropes happened before 1913. When I was growing up there were awesome stories of immigrants coming to a new country with nothing, assimilating, and finding community and success like in The Arrival….. today’s immigrants seem to have a more sinister motive that seems to be more manipulative. Those new immigrants get to be closer to the money spigot as long as they vote the right way.
