One thing yesterday at the protest I liked was the Revolutionary Communist guy reminding us that the people of Cape Breton will work for themselves when distant powers cut us off. The coal companies AND the steel industry both discarded Cape Bretoners when we were no longer "profitable" and folks set up their own companies to keep people working.
I'm at the edge of the world here, but I'm also where things can happen. People here know how to work for each other instead of for some billionaire. Folks just have to be reminded.
To hear someone else acknowledge this history I've been holding inside privately was really good, it means I don't have to convince *everyone*, as I assumed. There are people here who know their history, and I can learn from them.
