Kobo might be worth checking out. I switched from Kindle to Kobo 6 years ago because the Kobo walled garden is LESS walled. It offers more DRM free ebooks, does not ADD drm to books the author has stipulated should be DRM Free (which Kindle does), and Kobo devices read MANY more formats than Kindle readers. THAT requirement of yours is likely the trickiest, as Amazon/Kindle insists only its formats are best. Another option to check out may be Pocketbook
