Interesting foray here from Kagi.
It sounds pretty good on first sight, but:
- I'm somewhat skeptical of the accuracy of those attribution percentages
- And more importantly, everyone knows by now that (corporate) publishers actually LOVE contracts and deals and HATE fair, non-discriminatory compensation (because that means that only popular - i.e. useful, interesting, funny, well-made content makes money). And, to corpo publishers, that is small business indie loser shit. Big publishers want to sell slop en masse and earn ten times the competitive market rate for it, with the sweetheart deal guaranteed in eternity by law if possible.
Still cool if Kagi ever gets this to a point where websites can get some revenue share. However - revenue share of what exactly? Kagi's subscriptions? That's not going to be a lot. Is someone secretly thinking of ads again?
