I mean you COULD timestamp against 6 blocks ago. The hash power to reorg that is impractical and you can still say “on average this was an hour ago”.
I don’t remember how OTS works but it takes a while so it does rely on compounded POW I’m assuming.
There’s probably a way to incorporate that rather than me trying to brainstorm reinventing the timestamp.
