I fear that won’t work. If my calculation calculation is correct (which it may not be given my sloppiness), then it tells me that you get a counterexample with for example:
\(x=e_1\otimes 1 + e_2\otimes e^{i2\pi/3} + e_3\otimes e^{i4\pi/3}\) and \(y=e_4\otimes1+e_5\otimes e^{i2\pi/3}+ e_6\otimes e^{i4\pi/3}\).
I’m happy later to verify my calculation and update accordingly!
PS: the \(e_i\) are the octonionic basis vectors and I used the convention 1x2–>4.
