--routing_msat lets you pick the routing budget. When you use the "poor man's rendevouz" you need to pre-pay the routing fee so that the proxy will be able to get the payment to its destination. I have a default routing budget but you probably know more about the destination than I do so sometimes it makes more sense to set the budget explicitly (for example some wallets, may charge unusually high routing fees).
