3/23/86 philadelphia: soundcheck apparently included I HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE, though i wonder if the person was mishearing johnny otis’s WILLIE & THE HAND JIVE, which weir debuts in 1st set after art neville sang it earlier in year; a fun brief addition to the repertoire. opening GIMMIE SOME LOVIN’ has a brief charming & dorky breakdown featuring all 4 vocalists. early set DEAL gets smokin’ quickly. weir into his fragmentary-co-lead era on 2nd set-opening SHAKEDOWN STREET.
