Not particularly religious but I don't feel you understood what was being asked.
If you believed, you would forgive yourself and not hate yourself.
If you believed, you wouldn't worry about eternity in hell because your belief guarantees your forgiveness and entry to heaven.
Many great theologians spent vast amounts of time critically thinking, questioning doctrine, and debating. You also don't have to stay locked into one church or another. You are even free to fork off and create your own branch or denomination. That does not negate the premise of OP's question whatsoever.
If you believed in Christ you could still have perfectly normal relationships with "gays and prostitutes" including being compassionate, the same way you are to any other person who are all sinners, another definition is just "people who have fallen short of the mark".
If you believed, Sundays in church would bring you joy.
If you believed, the rituals would not be pointless to you. They would be fulfilling.
