The proposals they are looking at seem to have been around for a little while and have also been in response to other incidents or challenges in the last few years.
There will be a trial, inquest and coroners inquest. Which will produce information and recommendations. But all that will be some time away.
I know gun laws aren't going to stop every incident. We also have to balance legitimate uses for guns. My Grandpa was the president of a pistol club for many years. I have friend, relatives and coworkers with licences and own guns
