Yesterday I spent a significant amount of time on the phone trying to find out why my mid 20's son (health conscious & uninsured) has still not seen a surgeon at Canberra Hospital after 1 year post referral for a groin lump that turned out to be a Femoral Hernia. In the end I started sobbing to the poor admissions nurse. It's just so frustrating and like most of his life experiences pretty unfair. He cares for others and tries so hard but is not a complainer - an under reporter of his own pain. He is in daily pain and limping. Lives far away from me and his work takes him even further and keeps him very busy. No time for himself really.
It's heartbreaking as his Mum. Frustrating too. I used to work at that hospital & wish I could do more to help him. Was told they've brought in extra surgeons to help with the blown out waiting list. That's additionally concerning.
Just tired and venting this morning 😞 sorry.
