Think of it this way: classic U.S. 3-prong grounded plug has the ground plug at the bottom, so you see the top image or label of the test unit under that condition. But the recommended (#Code!???) rule is the socket is now oriented so the ground plug is *ON TOP* for safety reasons I am not qualified to vet.
The better test unit works and has a visible, correct, label no matter which way is on top.
I had to give one away because I can only follow one set of directions usually. Mostly.
