You GUYS I just bought myself a birthday present!!! :)
This was the first floppy drive I ever owned.
Coming from the 410 datasette I used for storage before this, it really WAS like getting into a Ferrari, putting petal to the metal, and saying "Warp 9, Engage!" :)
(OK so I mixed a few metaphors there but you get the idea)
The gent on ebay who was selling had it up for years, and kept offering $10 off, so I messaged him and said "Hey look I DO understand this IS a rare item, but there's no way I'm going to pay $200 for a piece of very delicate 40 year old electronics with mechanical parts that are prone to failure" so he offered to meet me halfway and I bought it for $150.
Now I need to actually go buy some floppies!
There's no practical reason for this given that I own one of the awesome #fujinet wifi adapters, but sometimes indulging a bit of pure nostalgia can be good fun :)
