PlayStation is bringing age verification to UK and Ireland adult accounts from June 2026. If you do not verify, you can still play games, but messaging, voice chat, parties, Discord voice chat, and some sharing or broadcast features can be locked behind an age check.
Sony says verification can be done with a mobile number, facial scan, or ID through Yoti.
Are we really normalising government ID checks and face scans just to speak to friends on a games console?
