Your point is valid but think a lot of people know this.
35% of the current global population were around for the invention of the internet. As an inventor of math, you probably know that many of the people who where alive at that time are now dead.
So we are talking about 5 billion people who saw the internet, and used it, and have a pretty good idea where it came from.
I get your point but, saying "few people" is a bit wild. It took way more that a few people to get where we are now, and literally billions of people remember what it was.
