Seeing a lot of posts about age verification and social media.
Age year of birth acknowledgment is now built into newer Mastodon software for instances that want to use it because before July 2025 is over, websites with users in or target the UK that allow users to post adult material must verify age. Mastodon.Social's age acknowledgment has been activated since 23 May 2025. It's not verification but it is an acknowledgement form.
I don't know what legal protection this provides, but it looks like a step to comply. I am sure at some point services, maybe built on fasp, will be available for instances that want to use it for full compliance with the ever so frequent emerging laws...
