Topic that came up several times yesterday and will again today: programmers wanting certainty that legal systems can’t give.
I was reminded of, but can’t currently find, an James Grimmelmann (npub12da…kz89) quote about programmers often being brilliant at reading and picking apart “black-letter” law (the written down text of statutes) and very, very bad at understanding the fuller complexity of court cases, interpretation, etc.
