I count myself in that camp probably. But I went the Catholic route because I grew up with the true idolaters, state power worshipping WASPs. These neocon pastors and boomers have never changed.
The new converts will have to navigate prudence with middle management authorities, led by the prince of this world, same as the apostles and martyrs.
