Weird question. Has anyone had a natural aversion to mirrors? Like even catching my own reflection in a store window jerks me out of whatever I was thinking. When I was younger, I used to cry. Unrecognisable.

I have always had some aphasia for faces. Also, I guess I thought I was supposed to be a boy. Was very sad when I found out I couldn't grow a beard.

Or, I remembered how women and girls were treated in our strict patriarchy. I recognised that my future was set. I was jealous of their power and freedom, so unfair.

Children can forget all that, live in the imagination, flow through time until they come face to face with this "self" they are supposed to be.
