🚨Lazarus Group Launders $35M from DMM Bitcoin Hack via Cambodian Exchange

Hackers linked to the North Korean Lazarus Group have reportedly moved over $35M from the $305M hack on DMM Bitcoin in May. 🎭

According to on-chain investigator ZachXBT, the stolen funds were laundered through Huione Guarantee, a platform operating in Cambodia. 🕵️‍♂️🇰🇭

💱 Stolen Bitcoin was mixed, converted to Ethereum and Avalanche via THORChain, and then to Tether (USDT), eventually ending up in Tron. A transfer of $28.2M was blocked when Tether blacklisted the wallet address on July 12. 📛🔗

DMM Bitcoin, a Japan-based exchange, suffered this major hack due to a critical security flaw, leading to unauthorized Bitcoin withdrawals. Despite this, the exchange raised $321M to compensate users. 🇯🇵💸

Elliptic researchers found that Huione Guarantee has processed over $11B in transactions from various scams and exploits, linking it to the Cambodian government. 🌐👥

In 2024, over $1.4B in crypto has been stolen, with centralized exchanges frequently targeted. 🏦💻
