Dragged a dead payphone out of the grave and shocked it back to life. Restored the light in the stand, now it’s proudly glowing like it did in the ’80s. Inside, it’s a Frankenstein mix of analog guts and digital soul making this phone hum again.
For the DIYers: the system flow goes
Analog POTS module → Grandstream HT801 → Raspberry Pi running the 3CX SBC → 3CX PBX / VoIP grid in the cloud.
3CX is the MVP here. Next up, I’d like to set up a self-hosted PBX, probably on Asterisk. Still need to dig into what the best options are.
