It may be, but these microscopic particles are incredibly difficult to extract from water at the scale needed with all the plastic we produce. A better alternative may be to phase out plastic where possible.

In our household we use paper bags and try to buy as much metal or glass packaged food as we can. It’s really bloomin’ hard to do this with supermarket and garden centres being so plastic dependent. We may need to legislate our way out of this mess.
