even the police have assault weapons, but when it comes to civil war or rebellion or anything, youre going to be defending yourself against assault riffles, machine guns, snipers, drones, missiles, bombs, tanks, and artillery fired from miles away.

in short, assault rifles alone arent even enough when considering the right to bear arms our constitution explicitly gave to us. the second amendment's primary purpose was literally to defend yourself against an oppressive state more so than against the bog standard criminal.

gun restriction laws (in the usa and NATO countries) arent about safety for the public, theyre about removing the possibility of defending yourself against our increasingly oppresive government - which just so happens to also be the most technologically advanced and destructive military force on the planet.
