"content": "New Read - Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Volume 1\n\n\n\nThis was the last read I had of 2024. \n\n\n\nI feel like Frieren was all over the internet in the back half of 2023 and through 2024, so I picked this up randomly from the library. I am glad I did.\n\n\n\nFor those who don't know Frieren is an elf who helped save the world with the great hero Himmel after a 10 year quest. The group goes their separate ways, but while the other members of the group age as humans do, Frieren is an elf who appears to be eternally young and ageless. Decades pass and feel like a couple years when she returns and sees her friends are aged.\n\n\n\nWhen playing fantasy games or reading fantasy stories, everyone is aging together. The idea of an eternal elf walking off and coming back like no time has passed for them, but 50 years passed for her former companions is so unique to me.\n\n\n\nThis is the basic setup of the story. It then follows as she's trying to understand her former compatriots better with their short, fleeting lives as well as training up her new apprentice, Fern. \n\n\n\nIt's very well done, at least what I've read.
