In the history of his various companies, not once has he ever hit scheduled mileposts. Every model of Tesla was years behind schedule before finally hitting the market.

The Cybertruck was the most recent example.
2012-13 - rumours and hints or a Tesla pickup targeting the conventional F150
2019 - Concept truck introduced
2021 - scheduled job 1 of production run
2023 - actual production starts
2023 - November has first handful of deliveries to customers.
2024 - multiple recalls and stop production to deal with defects

Initial RWD base price rises from $39k to $61k. First year production is limited to Foundation series only, base price in excess of $100k, with trimotor Cyberbeast now $120k.

Range has been reduced from promised 500+ miles to an EPA estimate of 320-340 miles depending on model. Even with the optional $16k range extender, range is limited to 470 miles.

- The bullet-proof glass doesn't make it to production.
- The 'exoskeleton' is scaled back to typical unibody structure as in the Honda Ridgeline.
- Bullet proof body panels are limited to door skins and proof against very small caliber (.22LR, some .223)
- The built in ramp from the concept does not make it to production.
- The promised sleek $3000 'Basecamp' tent ends up looking like a $300 aftermarket tent from Walmart.
- The aero wheelcovers chew up the tire sidewalls and are recalled. New hubcaps are more of a conventional design.
