Long story short I hightailed it off the highway, hesitated and decided to shelter at a gas station. The tornado watch extended from 7:30 to 11 so I decided to book it through some really bad rain to a work location 3 miles away. Still 60 miles from home though, and leaving puddles on a conference room floor.
Honestly of all the places to hunker down for the night this is actually a pretty nice place, so don't worry too much internet strangers.
Moral of the story? Don't give it your all, just do the bare minimum and get home to watch TV or something lol. The thing I needed to fix? Didn't even get it fixed. Wound up doing a half bandaid fix that could have been done in 10 minutes instead of the hours I spent on it.
