I have a solid hypothesis about #Telegram :
In the day and age that WhatsApp, Signal, XMPP, DeltaChat, ... have #E2EE (end to end encryption) enabled by default in on-to-one and group chats shows that not only it is possible, it is mainstream feature. So it is not that the Telegram devs are incompetent to implement a proper E2EE, but the lack of E2EE in group chats and default chats in Telegram are *by design*.
Now the question is: Why?
