The last part of Alyson Greaves' "All the Way" has been very difficult to get through while Becca reads it to me. Even though my trajectory is far different from Maxine's, there are _so_ many aspects of our respective sets of experiences that are very similar, and I often start dissociating and flashbacking and then crying as if I'm literally reliving various moments of my childhood and during my marriage such that Becca has to stop and ground me.
My life is far different now than it was twenty years ago or forty years ago... but the trauma is _still_ there...
