We have our two in a German Kindergarten and they get them playing outside as much as possible, the staff are good at airing out the rooms periodically, but there's only so much you can do.
For months (/years) of course there were lockdowns, and I would also pull them out and keep them home when there was a COVID case at the Kita because it always started a wave - but once things started going "back to normal" we couldn't just lock them up at home.
