Heard a story of academic collaborators working on a paper together, one author ‘corrected’ one of the other’s references after asking chatGPT.
It was wrong (of course), the book and article referenced didn’t exist.
The shocking thing to me was that the collaborator believed AI instead of a subject expert with decades of experience and many papers/books researched.
They didn’t even check for the books existence.
We are in so much trouble.
