Yes, because once you actually research the history of the crucifixion story beyond the amalgamated, glossed versions found in NIV, KJV, etc variations of the Bible, you discover you aren’t told the entire story. And you quickly realise why, becomes it becomes convoluted and inconvenient. Remember the “criminal” who Pontious Pilate offers to the Jews alongside Jesus? We’re only told his “name” is “Barabbas” and that’s only partially true. That’s a last name. His first name was Yeshua. Aka the Greek translation of “Joshua” or “Jesus”. And guess what “Barabbas” means? It is “son of father”. So, you effectively have TWO simultaneous “Jesus, son of God” on trial at the same time, both for insurrection crimes. And so from a historical record it’s unclear which one was then truly chosen to die on the cross, unless you assume all of the biblical scholars and historians and scribes got the story right 20yrs later 🤷 Hence, why I said allegedly.
