From an Ayurveda perspective, you would want to first clear the ama/toxins. The ama covers the cells, tissues, etc leading to inflammation.
The inflammation is likely leading to any pain you are experiencing.
Treatment depends on how far along the imbalance has progressed.
If it's not that bad, self treatment with rejuvenation therapies (massage with herb infused oils and regiment of herbs)....
If it's very severe, panch karma is your best bet. I just completed a few sessions at home.... It's doable at home, but it's super messy and involved.
