I'm sure men can grasp, in theory, that traditional roles means less income. However, in practice a lot of them seem to expect their wives/girlfriends to work full time whilst also maintaining a more traditional (i.e. the woman does everything) set up at home. A quick read through of relationships posts on reddit or mumsnet is enough to confirm that plenty men think this way.
