I am a Rootstock enthusiast recently because;
1. Reaching >80% merge mining is the hardest thing any sidechain will ever do, so once we have it we shouldn't squander it until we are sure the existing chain is unusable or unredeemable...
2. It is quite hard to find anything to hate about the core engineering;
- it doesn't complicate the consensus too much
- it doesn't grow block size unnecessarily (almost same tps as bitcoin until miners vote to increase gas limit, which they don't because demand isn't there).
- almost every idea I thought of to improve the chain, SDL came up with already and had a RSKIP for it, usually not adapted again because they try not to complicate things until the demand is there.
3- It is quite hard to find a reason to hate on them;
- no shit coin
- soild bridge
- trying to make the bridge better and researching that all the time.
- they bring demand to Bitcoin miners and subsidize the security, instead of enriching themselves with a shitcoin
- already have a genuine user base in their own side of the planet

If anything the main reason most people give me for not using them, is that they suck at business development... But that is like saying Bitcoin Core is not doing enough on the business side... Like ... Good I guess!
