Yeah but if you want a new variety growing you have to go outside your property, find it & bring back a pup.

I planted pups (& some rhizome pieces) of dwarf Cavendish, red dukka, dwarf ducass & Santa Catalina in the last 18 months.

The dwarf cav & red dukka pups are mostly ready to fruit now but the rhizome pieces & some pups planted later are a good 12 months away. I still don't know which of these varieties I will like the most & which I want to propogate.

It's fun but also a little frustrating to wait. Then I start thinking about breeders & them waiting to see the results of their cross pollination. It must take 3+ years to get a banana seed into a plant big enough to fruit.
