One reaction we had here, when discussing Jeffrey Goldberg’s Atlantic account of the Signal chat national security breach was, “What if he hadn’t dropped out of the chat?” What else might he have learned if he stayed on a bit longer?
This, I think, will be a topic for journalism ethics classes for years to come: to stay on the chat, wait to drop the story, or do what he did and bring the story out now?
