The boundary between distributed and parallel is sometimes fuzzy. My class is mostly distributed, but we cover topics like Chandy's snapshots. What interests me about Vera Rubin is the in-network computation, which arguably goes back to Dave Tennenhouse and others (Randy Katz, maybe?) in the 1990s.
