This part isn’t true. The latest release has BIP-110 parameters set by default, and you’re prompted if you wish to run it with BIP-110 settings or not. Default settings differ from Core only in the part of mempool filters, and even if you don’t change anything you’ll have good filters for spam. Configurability allows you to tighten them even further or relax them, but you don’t have to do any extra adjustments if you feel not up for it.
