idk there is precedent for suicide practices in the sutras. mostly it was self-immolation vows i think based on the example of medicine king bodhisattva from the lotus sutra. idk where sokushinbutsu came from. personally i think it's a violation of the first precept against killing but there are probably arguments to be made in favor of it
