As an amateur myrmecologist and ant fan it's hard to imagine even uttering the phrase "mainstream myrmecology" ... but ants, being far more distant from human politics, history and emotions just don't have big stinking controversies or wild theories about them like the pyramids.

In some ways that's why I like ants better. And Math!

There is less confusion as you study from people projecting their wider agendas on to the topic.
