"Long before the events of October 7, Palestinian children were systematically targeted by the Israeli military, shattering their innocence and leading to the suspension of their childhood. As this analysis will demonstrate, this suspension is sustained through the hegemonic grammar of Zionist and American orientalist modes of representation and dehumanization, which otherize the Palestinian child and render it an exceptionally political subject. In this orientalist and settler-colonial imaginary, the child is transformed into an entity that embodies the supposed violent tendencies of their forebears and thus conceived as inherently prone to extremism and aggression."
