I see what you mean, but you're missing something. You do know something about her, actually. You know quite a bit, not because you can glean directly from the traits she has who she is, but because she signals those traits in a conforming way. You might not know how her childhood was, how many siblings she has, but you know probably about 80% of her life philosophy just because she packaged herself in such a way as to inform you.
Of course, you don't want to think that way. You want to maintain your purity of mind, your deeper sense of humanity and meaning, but what's happening here is not you falling into a team game. It's you heeding a warning, it's a defense mechanism, you see a beast in the wild with big teeth and you avoid it, you learn that this frog or that mushroom looks like this and that means it's poisonous.
