My worst nightmare is TikTok discovering a niche hobby and turning it into an expensive trend causing larpers and scalpers to drive up prices to the point where it’s not just expensive, but is also not fun anymore. Something smells fishy, consumerists are planning some secret operation to scalp every hobby to make sure poor people or low income folks don’t get the hobby to enjoy? Going offline? That is sadly becoming a monetized trend now. Retro gaming? It’s getting ruined by larpers, anime? Same deal. Legos? Pokémon cards? DVD’s, cassettes, VHS, CD, even blu-ray? and model trains? Whoops, scalpers stole it all from you and are reselling it at a ridiculous price. Being different means nothing anymore…
