I've always gone by my middle name (I have the same name as my dad, my parents didn't want me to be a "Junior"), which was annoying growing up. Every year having to explain to every teacher, "I go by Joe". But, now, in the age of the internet with weirdos being weird, it's nice to have a level of pseudonymity without trying too hard...it would be pretty challenging for someone who only knows me from social media to figure out where I live, politicians I've donated to, my voting record, etc.
